WELCOME TO THE NAUTICAL HISTORY AND SHIP MODELING PAGE!
I'm a professional cartoonist and amateur ship modeler with a passion for all things nautical. I also do a great deal of research regarding the English Navy of the Baroque era which I'll periodically write about HERE. Check back often - there'll be much to see and read about!
These photographs were taken by me and my extraordinarily talented ship modeling mentor John Hatch at the Naval Academy Museum in Annapolis, Maryland unless otherwise noted. These models are part of the Henry Huddleston Rogers collection and represent some of the finest contemporary ship models in existence. When you consider that many of these three dimensional works of art are over 300 years old, it's astonishing to think that the craftsmen who built them did so with very simple tools, yet achieved a level of precision and beauty that's exceptionally difficult to replicate today.
