Colonial Schooner 'Hannah'
Model built by Bill Abbott, under the exceedingly patient guidance of John Hatch.
In the summer of 2006 I was serving in Iraq. Nautical history and ship modeling have always been passions of mine, and it had been my hope to begin building a model once I returned home. I'd asked on a popular ship modeling forum what the more skilled builders thought of the 'Sir Edward Hawke' schooner as a first project, since detailed plans could be found within the Nautical Research Journal's CD set. John responded to my inquiry, and since he lived near me, offered to guide me through my first build once I got back to the States. He recommended the 'Hannah', a model he'd already built, and one for which he had everything required. And so it began. John has tolerated my over-abundance of enthusiasm and my incessant need to add more ships to the list of 'must-builds'.
